Scott Geller has a Ph.D. in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from UC Santa Barbara, and a Master's in Biotechnology Management from IE Business School in Madrid (Spain). Scott also pursued two post-doctoral fellowships in Sydney, Australia and here at UC Berkeley. For over 30 years Scott has been studying and manipulating DNA in the lab, and he is thrilled to be part of the incredible scientific community at UC Berkeley.
Hitomi Asahara has a Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biology from SUNY at Albany and post-doctoral training at UC Berkeley with a research focus on enzymes involved in DNA repair and replication. She has been with the DNA sequencing facility since 2003 and has extensive experience in the operational management of technical facilities as well as a research lab.
Brian McCarthy has a B.A. degree in Biological Sciences with an emphasis on Ecology from UC Santa Barbara and worked as a technician in the Chevron Environmental Chemistry Laboratory before joining the facility in 2002.
Julie Vargas has a B.S. in Biology from UCLA. She has worked on projects in psychiatric genetics, familial intrahepatic cholestasis, and muscular dystrophy.
Neli Nochipa has a Ph.D. in Biosciences from Rice University. She has studied the resistance and adaptation to anticoagulants in commensal rodents in the USA.
Michelle Davila has a B.S. degree in Zoology from San Francisco State University.
