Hitomi Asahara has a Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biology from SUNY at Albany and post-doctoral training at UC Berkeley with a research focus on enzymes involved in DNA repair and replication. She has been with the DNA sequencing facility since 2003 and has extensive experience in the operational management of technical facilities as well as a research lab.
Eileen Wagner has a Ph.D. in molecular biology from CU-Boulder and postdoctoral training at UC-Berkeley. She has studied RNA transcription and degradation and developmental gene networks, and has worked with bacteria, algae, worms, ascidians, and cultured human cells. She joined the facility in 2017.
Pingping He Ph.D., the manager of QB3 High-Throughput Screening Facility, She worked in University of California, San Francisco as postdoc/research specialist before joining the UC Berkely core facilities. Her experiences includes high-throughput automation, studies on teeth develpment and human genetic diseases.
Millicent Yee-Wilson has a B.A. degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with an emphasis on Biochemistry from UC Berkeley. She worked as a research assistant on both the Dog and Human Genome Projects at LBNL before joining the facility in 1993.
Brian McCarthy has a B.A. degree in Biological Sciences with an emphasis on Ecology from UC Santa Barbara and worked as a technician in the Chevron Environmental Chemistry Laboratory before joining the facility in 2002.
Dorothy Okamoto has a B.S. in Nutrition and Food Science from UC Berkeley. Her research experiences include work with monocotyledonous plants, fusarium species and the Pseudomonas syringae bacteria. She joined the facility in 2006.
Julie Vargas has a B.S. in Biology from UCLA. She has worked on projects in psychiatric genetics, familial intrahepatic cholestasis, and muscular dystrophy.
Cameron Cowles is an undergraduate student at UC Berkeley studying Molecular and Cell Biology and Architecture.
